Metadata Editor

Introduction

AWP allows users with the according Cumulus permission to upload assets to a catalog and to create new records or check-in existing records.

A description of the available workflows is available on a separate page.

Uploads

Uploads
Search for identical assets using Asset Content IdentifierAWP searches for records where the field Asset Content Identifier has the same value as the asset to be cataloged. This indicates that the uploaded asset is identical to an already cataloged asset.
Allow cataloging of detected duplicatesEnable this option to allow the user to catalog an asset which was already cataloged previously and found by searching for the Asset Content Identifier field value.
Search for records with identical Asset NameAWP searches for records where the field Asset Name has the same value as the asset to be cataloged.
Allow check-in for matching record (if versioned)When exactly one record was found with a matching Asset Name field value the uploading user has the option to check-in the uploaded asset as a new version for the found record asset instead of creating a new record. This requires that the record's asset supports versioning.
Allow overwriting of asset for matching record (if not versioned)When exactly one record was found with a matching Asset Name field value the uploading user has the option to overwrite the original record asset with the uploaded asset. This option is only available if the record asset does not support versioning.
Direct-Upload
Enable Direct-UploadCheck to enable a way to quickly upload new assets as a normal user.
This enables users to upload new assets quickly without seeing existing records or assets and by using a stripped down user interface of AWP.
The Direct-Upload is available at http://server/awp/directupload
Catalog intoConfigure the Catalog where new assets are cataloged into.
Show Only Categories Below If the Record View Set configured in the Asset Handling Set allows the uploading user to edit categories for uploaded assets AWP can either use the globally configured root category or the category with this category tree path.
Asset Handling SetSelect the Asset Handling Set to use for the cataloging. Direct-Upload supports showing the Editor if that option is enabled in the Asset Handling Set and if the configured Record View Set contains mandatory fields, cataloging is only possible if these fields are filled out.
Permission TemplateConfigures the initial permissions to use for records created when cataloging uploaded assets. This is only shown if the Cumulus server supports individual permissions.
Apply Metadata Template Configure an optional Metadata Template which is applied after the record has been filled with the metadata entered by the cataloging user.
Available Metadata Templates
List of available Metadata Template a user could apply when editing the initial values for assets to be cataloged. Applying such a Template will fill the available editor fields with the values from the Template.
