Settings Backup
The Settings Backup scheduler job writes the FJC settings stored on the Fylr server - everything the Attention products keep there: module configurations, view sets, queries, scheduler jobs, metadata templates, asset actions, e-mail themes and templates, workflows and installed plugins, together with the files they reference - into a backup file. It is the scheduled counterpart of the Settings Backup plugin of the Attention Control Center, which is also the tool to restore such a file. Open its configuration via the Scheduler admin module and pick Settings Backup as the job type.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Directory | The folder the backup files are written to. It lives on the machine the scheduler service runs on, not on the machine ACC runs on, and must already exist - the job does not create it. |
| Keep | How many of the newest backup files to keep in that folder; older ones are deleted after each run. 0 keeps every file. |
What the job does when it runs
Every time the scheduler triggers the job it:
- Reads every settings area from the server and writes it, together with the referenced files, to
fjc-prefs-backup_<date>_<time>.zipin the configured folder. - Deletes the oldest files in that folder beyond the configured number. Only files named like its own backups are considered - the snapshots ACC writes before a restore and any other file in the folder are left alone.
- Names the written file, its size and the number of deleted files in the run notification.
- Fails with an error when the folder does not exist or the backup cannot be written; a partially written file is removed so that the folder never holds an incomplete backup.
